Much has been made recently about Kendrick Lamar’s second album, ‘good kid m.A.A.d. city’, with Kendrick Lamar being referred to as the ‘man of the moment’.
The Compton rapper’s latest effort peaked at #1 on both the US Top Rap & Top R&B Hip – Hop Albums charts, whilst reaching #2 on the UK R&B Album chart. The album was Kendrick Lamar’s first release as a signed artist following his Independently released ‘Section.80’.
I’ve found a track from the man responsible for encouraging young people to spend all their free time in the library studying diving into pools of liquor, named ‘Beyoncé’. Mr. Lamar apparently recorded the track at the tail end of 2010. Take a listen below:
The song has an Eminem like quality to it, specifically with the lines:
“I just bought the Sasha Fierce CD
I gazed at the cover for a whole five minutes till my girlfriend hit me
She’s jealous of you B cause I don’t love her like I love you.”
The song shows Kendrick Lamar’s ability to express his love to the woman of his dreams, Beyoncé Knowles, but in a light-hearted manner. For me, as a Kendrick fan, to see him be able to produce such a track sees him stand out from the crowd of talented rappers of today.
Sidenote: Is it wrong to say that I love this song, just purely because I’ve got that kind of Beyonce fetish goin’ on?
