As usual she keeps her visuals very simplistic. In the video the camera follows her round New York in a black and white setting, then occasionally cuts to her busting some old school dance moves on a roof with two backup dancers.
Azealia Banks continues to effortlessly release tracks of a high standard. This sexy, funky, dance vibe that she’s combined with Hip Hop and Rap is intoxicating. Since when did rapping sound so sexy, without sounding crude? Apart from the “C**t” repetition in 212, she seems to have found a happy medium that can only be associated with her. ‘Luxury’ is just one of those songs that makes you feel rich, in all the right ways without the element of greed. Azealia’s smooth talking introduction that continues throughout the song as the chorus, is slowly putting you under, making everyone and everything feel silky smooth.
Azealia is in fact not singing about materialistic wealth, but love. She refers to the man that she has met as her luxury. The 21 year old found a nice way of twisting the original meaning of word, almost as if to say love is a luxury, which is true in some cases because not everybody finds it. For someone so young Azealia Banks truly knows how to separate herself from all the other Hip Hop & R&B artists, by sticking to the music that is within her, instead of what sells. On the other hand luckily for her, her truth is what’s selling.
