|New Music| Calvin Harris ft Florence Welch

Calvin Harris and Florence Welch are a musical match made in heaven. Calvin’s ability to constantly outdo himself instrumentally, creating a futuristic, past sound that melts so nicely into today’s music is inspiring. In this musical era of repetition where all the music sounds exactly the same, it’s refreshing when Calvin returns with something that is so undeniably him, but yet so far from the sound that everybody else is repeating. Calvin has a way of taking his music that one step further, always making it clear to us that he was born in the 80’s. He carries that past soul and passion into making music that a lot of the new generation is lacking.

‘Sweet Nothing,’ is just another one of those songs that takes you on a beautifully melancholy journey. Only Calvin can create a bipolar beat that has you dancing, while contemplating the gloomy undertone of the lyrics. Florence Welch’s wailing vocals are a piercingly wonderful over the upbeat tempo. Her scorned ghostly vocals, cause unexplainable shivers to those who hear her sing. There is something so pure and raw about the way Florence sings, that she captures your attention and makes you listen.  When they work together they create a raw, untamed sound that gives you the opportunity to truly let go of all your inhibitions. Hopefully we will get to indulge more of their infectious collaborations in the near future.
