How can a man sing about food, and turn it into such a profound masterpiece. Durand Bernarr posted his cover of Mary J Blige’s Burger King ‘Crispy Chicken Wrap,’ and no matter what anyone says this song is a hit. Why Bernarr’s more detailed rendition of ‘Crispy Chicken Wrap’ hasn’t gone viral, is beyond me. Especially when Durand sings about it like it’s the best energy source on the planet. So far it only has just under 95 000 views, but he deserves so much more for his catchy genius. Every chicken lover will be singing this on the way to work or down the hallways at school.
Durand Bernarr has funky old school vocals, bringing the boogie back to the masses. The Cleveland Ohio native was destined for music, because of his energy and DNA. Both his mother and father were singers, and his dad did sound engineering for big artists such as Earth, Wind & fire, Jill Scott, Whitney Houston and many more. So it’s no surprise that he chose to purse the music root, having shared stages with the likes of equally talented artists like Lianne La Havas and Marques Toliver. He released his first independent mixtape ‘Alcoholharmony’ in 2009, and was invited by Erykah Badu to be apart of her band ‘Neda Stella’ after hearing his second project ‘8ight: The Stepson of Erykah Badu.’ Durand spent the summer of 2011 travelling with Badu and singing background for her European tour.
Listen to his mixtapes ‘Alcoholharmony,’ ‘8ight: The Stepson of Erykah Badu,’ and ‘Some Time in December, 1987’ so that you can enjoy the groovy vibes.
