The date right now is 13/06 which marks the halfway point of 2012! This means evaluating what we have done so far in the year and what we need to do to either accomplish our goals or get that step further to our ambition. I had these plans also, to take TheBluMile that extra distance since the launch party, have the team completed, and most importantly with news of the double dip recession, SAVE my money… Then G.O.O.D Music’s frontman, chairman, “Führer”, Kanye West comes along with some of the best news since his return single “Power”.
As many of you may or may not know, I am a huge Kanye West fan and so is fellow TBM Co-Founder, Miles. So you can imagine the amount of jizz that clogged up the drainage of South East London when the news of the European Watch The Throne Tour surfaced. The news travelled quickly and it wasn’t long till everybody had plans to purchase tickets and finding friends who are on o2 for the chance to get theirs early through Priority. With tickets priced at £67.25 (seated) and £44.75, it wasn’t a cheap concert and it wasn’t exactly a time of the year where my wallet was my best friend, being a student with a car and all. I got myself a ticket regardless ‘cos I got game like that
£67.25 (WTT Show 20th May Seated Tickets)- Happy Times.
Time escalated aswel as excitement. After repeated plays of the live US WTT Tour Audio Mixtape and then the official video to “N*ggas In Paris” being released, there was nothing else for Miles, Jordan and I to talk about let alone listen to; until I was informed that we could get box seats for the first date of the concert. The only catch was, we had to pay the ordinary ticket price for us to be in the boxes. It was like setting a wedding date with a Meagan Good and then getting a phone call saying you can sleep with Rihanna a couple times before the wedding day. It didn’t take long for us all to jump at the opportunity! I mean who wouldn’t want to see The Throne twice! Once from V.I.P and another with the peasants?
£67.25 (18th May, V.I.P Box tickets) – Excited times!
So by this point I have already spent over £100 on Kanye West and Jay-Z this is just to attend the concert, nothing more, nothing less.
18th of May arrives and not only did I get caught up on the hype of seeing Kanye West and Jay-Z on the same night, I was also caught up on the hype of being able to purchasing merchandise. They had a whole range of T-Shirts available from the old solo tour Kanye tee to special WTT tour tee priced at £30 each. So what does Blu do? I bought three.
£90 (WTT Merchandise Tees) - WTT Hype!
The shows were amazing! Kanye’s creativity was present with every aspect of the show; the intros, the rising boxes with visuals of the kings of the animal kingdom, and strobe lights – how could i forget the strobe lights? The overwhelming show had me surrounded by a WTT aura that nobody but The Throne themselves could penetrate (no homo! Ok maybe some homo. Nah no homo). It even caused me to write a review.
I spoke about the night constantly on Twitter, then the idea was dropped in my mentions by the good guys over at KVMN Clothing to attend the Paris show on June 2nd. I agreed and before you could ask me “Would you like cheese with that baguette?” it was booked.
The Paris show was worth EVERY PENNY! The seats we got were dope! Especially for the price as they were cheaper than the London tickets. In addition, the energy from the French was nothing like London’s dull energy; the crowd was amazing! You could really see that the atmosphere from the crowd not only effected the peers but it also effected ‘Ye & Jay as they were jumping/running around the stage like kids themselves. The same went for V.I.Ps beside the stage, Young Guru, The Dream & 2 Chainz also going crazy and running around during “N*ggas In Paris”.

£55 (ticket), £60 (return coach ticket) & £30 (hotel room) = £145 – Time to calm down?!
Amongst the hype of the US/UK tour, there was news and speculations regarding Kanye’s sequel to his sneaker venture with the Nike Air Yeezy 2. It is said that Kanye’s contract with Nike is to release one sneaker every three years and with the first being in 2009 the hype was hectic towards the release of the second. Rumours continued to pile up in TheBluMile archive, with new news appearing nearly every two weeks with a “confirmed release date”. So when the news finally hit that they will be dropping on June 9th and the post was posted on May 30th by Miles I was like :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Having already attended the Watch The Throne show TWICE in London, bought three of the merchandise tees and also booked Paris WTT, I had already given Kanye enough money. On the other hand, the trainers are not only a pair of trainers but they’re an investment with trainer experts stating that the sneakers can go for up to £5,000 resale regardless being sold for £210.
After attendingWTT in Paris, I had one days rest and began the “Get Yeezy 2 Campaign” with fellow Yeezy stan Miles. It started off with heading over to Footpatrol as they were doing a competition to win the opportunity to purchase the Yeezys. It turned out that they had over 1,000 entries. Thats 1000/1 for each size.
Shortly after Footpartol we hit Nike 1948 London, who were said to be giving out 30 wristbands a day to signify that you have a pair of Yeezy 2 reserved for the official release on the 9th June. Once we arrived in Shoreditch there were up to 10 people scattered outside already but after talking to three people we decided to return home and if anything come back later at night due to the strict rules of “NO CAMPING” stated by Nike via Twitter. Time creeped and 1948 tweeted that they will be letting loose 30 wristbands at 12pm the next day causing up to 50 people to turn up out the store at 11pm of the night before. So what did Miles and I do?… We camped.
Yes, we packed out bags and chairs, blankets and ran to shoreditch! Getting there late, with the 40+ people queueing already, we thought our luck had raped our lives and ran off with our ‘ginity. I came up with the cunning plan of pushing in and used my traditional technique; that I learned from my many trips to Thorpe Park, which is making friends with the people infront. We spent the whole night talking to the people at the front of the queue (top 10) and just made jokes, and kept them happy till crunch time came (12pm).
Saturday came and voila!
So by this point you’re probably wondering what the point of this post is, right? Well I am currently ill, I have a shooting pain going through my right arm and it is near enough unable to move unless I am having a crazy spasm. I believe this has been caused by exhaustion after spending the past 3 weeks dedicating my life to Kanye West. With the first week commencing on the 18th of May and ending on the the 9th of June, that is nearly a month of exhaustion plus working at my usual job on top! Lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying; now I am having to go to the hospital not to mention spending – WAIT! That is the question! How much have i spent on Kanye West over the past month?
