Roy Lichtenstein

A piece by Roy Lichetenstein sold for £27.8 million pounds at Sotheby’s New York sale of post-war and contemporary art, this is the biggest amount ever to be paid for his work. The art work was called ‘Sleepin girl’ and was produced in 1964. For it’s time the piece was absolutely extraordinary and still stands today being one of the most iconic pop art works. God if I had that sort of money it would of been mine! Along with this Andy Warhol’s ‘Double Elvis’, a tribute to the musician, sold for £23 million but was expected to reach £31 million.
